System_printf() for FET debugger

Hi,

I am using TI RTOS for MSP430F5659 controller, IDE CCS.

Whether i need USB connected to see the printf messages for "System_printf()" function?

Please clarify me.

By default the System_printf goes to the CCS console whenever a System_flush is called or the application terminates. The messages can also be viewed in CCS->Tools->ROV->SysMin when you pause the target.

You can change this behavior if desired. We have several different System providers that behave differently. What do you want?

I want send the message over UART for the debugging the code. Can i achieve this?

You can look at the UART Console example in TI-RTOS for MSP43x. We have this example for the MSP430F5529. In the .cfg file, it uses SysCallback as the system provider. You can plug in a function that you can send the ASCII out the UART.
