ESD122: SPEC Question

Part Number: ESD122

HI Sir

I saw ESD401's Rdyn value is 0.7ohm smaller than ESD122's 0.5ohm

But ESD401's Air Cap and contact discharge value is better than ESD122

May I know the detail ?

As I know low Rdyn value have better Contact or Air cap 's value ,Have anything I miss understanding ?

  • Hi Kai,

    Thanks for reaching out.
The ESD401 Rdyn is 0.7ohm and the ESD122 Rdyn is 0.5ohm.
Rdyn is related to clamping voltage which is a measure of protection performance. A lower Rdyn will usually mean a lower clamping voltage which means better protection for system circuitry behind the ESD diode.

The IEC 61000-4-2 contact/air gap rating is actually quite different since it measures what voltage the ESD diode can survive, not the protection offered to system circuitry behind the diode.

I've attached two short blogs here that explain these concepts.
