TVS0500: TVS0500 for initial power stage surge protection

Part Number: TVS0500

Hi,

I'm in midst of looking for a surge protection device for pre-power stage on my audio amp which carries a 9V abs max Vin. My audio amp is currently drawing power directly from battery pack but spikes was detected whenever physical connection of my battery was compromised. I noticed that TVS0500 was capable of f-clamp @ 9.5V, but will it work if i were to clamp forward voltage below 9V? As i noticed TVS family of product tends to operate on much higher Vclamp range, thus i will need some recommendation if TVS0500 may not be applicable in my case here. Thanks.

Regards,

Leo

  • Hello,

This is a transient event so depending on the length the DC abs max is not the same as the transient max.

Do you know what type of surge pulse you are seeing? The general standard for surge says 8us rise time and 20is fall time.

    Regards,
