Hi,

I am struggling with the interface to an TFP403 (part of an FMC-DVI card from Avnet).

When connected to a DVI HD-source, the signals H/Vsync and CLK and DE are coming out, and

look good (1920x1080p50). Also the SCDT is active (because of the active DE).

However all the 24 data pins remain constant : value of the 24-bit word stays 0x010101

(measured at the pins of the TFP403). This does not represent the HD-video input.

Any idea ? What to check ? What to do ?

Can you provide a scope capture showing DE, HSYNC and VSYNC?

Today, I tried the following:
I changed the video source to the HDMI output port of my laptop, and then I saw acceptable traffic
on the data pins of the TFP430.

Previously, my video source was the HDMI output of a DVD player (Samsung BD-H5500)

Could this make any difference ?

Yes,

It is possible that the DVD player was sending embedded audio on the TMDS stream.

The TFP403 does not support embedded audio on the TMDS stream, in other words, the TFP403 supports HDMI video-only.

If the DVD player sends also embedded audio, is the 0x010101 pattern
then the expected pattern at the data pins (besides the
correct video timing signals) ?

If we need to be compliant to a DVD player generated video, including
embedded audio, which interface chip resembling the TFP403 would
you recommend ?

Hello,

I can't assure the data pattern would be 0x010101 with embedded audio, it will likely vary.

Unfortunately we only have TMDS video-only receivers in this group.
