Is there a document available which explains how enumeration happens when the TUSB1310A USB 3.0 chip is used? My specific questions are:

1. Does enumeration happen automatically?

2. If enumeration does occur automatically, what drivers are used on the PC side of the equation when the PC is the host?

Hello,

The TUSB1310A is only a PHY, the enumeration process will be handled by the Link Layer Controller which.

The LLC will have to have the USB stack drivers, we have only interfaced the TUSB1310A with FPGAs but it can be interfaced with ASICs as well.

Hello Aaron,

As Elias mentioned, the TUSB1310A is a PHY and it is involved only in the physical layer, In order to be enumerated (or enumerate a device), the TUSB1310A has to work with the USB3 link controller and the driver on the OS.

The driver depends on the OS, and it is integrated by default on Widows 8, 8.1 and Linux (the recommendation is to have the latest kernel version), or distributed by the Host vendor for an specific OS.
