I am going to move your question to the Consumer and Computing forum so that it can get the proper support and visibility. They should be able to address you question.

  • Hello,

I am not sure what your application is and why you need to "apply" for a GUID.

The GUID is not mandatory for the 1394 specification, nevertheless, it is recommended  for host controllers intended to be used on add-in cards, this is intended to provide vendor-specific information and extended entries to upper level software.

The GUID registers on the XIO2221 can be written via external EEPROM or via PCIe Interface, these Registers are reset only by a PCIe Reset or Global Reset.

We don't have a DOS toll to program the EEPROM.

    Regards.

    1. No.
    2. Your customer has to buy a 24-bit OUI from the IEEE; the other 24 bits are his own serial number.
