TUSB2046

because TUSB2046 is 4-port version, so is it possible I use to two TUSB2046, use one up stream port link to the down stream port of another TUSB2046, so total I can get 7-port USB hub.

I know you have 7-port chip already, so I will use one 4-port version and one 7-port version to get total 10-port USB HUB product.

Thanks!

  • Hello Tony,

    The USB specification allows for
up to five (5) tiers of hubs, so - yes it is possible to have one hub downstream from another.  Note that to have hubs connected in series - the first one in the series must be self-powered - as must any hub that has a hub connected to one of its downstream ports.

The DP and DM signals of the unused port should be tied to ground with 15K resistors like the pull-downs used on the active ports.

The OVRCUR/ input of the unused port can be left tied to the other OVRCUR/ inputs if the hub is configured as GANGED.

If the hub is not configured as GANGED, OVRCUR/ input of the unused port should have a pull-up resistor.  A value of 1.5K is sufficient.

The PWRON/ output can be left unconnected.

Note: Connecting the unused ports to ground is the recommended solution; it will not negatively impact the device.

    Regards,
    Joel
