Difference between TSB81BA3D and TSB81BA3E

Hi-All,

I understand that TSB81BA3E is an enhanced version of the previous generation TSB81BA3D but there is some difference at resister address, specially Port Status (Table3), Vendor ID (Table5) and Vendor-Dependent (Table7). So we need to change software design for these resister as necessary to replace from D to E version. Is my understanding correct?

Hello,

No, you can just replace the "D" version the tSB81BA3E is a drop-in replacement.

Hi Elias-san,

Do you mean that the firmware for CPU that communicate with TSB81BA3DE do not need to change though there is some difference of such address? Let me double-check just to make sure.

Hi Elias-san,

For example about Page 0 (Port Status) Register, we need to select Address to access each bit. I believe that we can not access the bit in this register at ver.E with address for ver.D. So I think that we need to change the address assignment from 1xxxx to 0xxx.

Please let me know if my understanding is incorrect.

The addresses of the port status registers did not change.
If the datasheet changed, it was only to correct an error in the documentation (or to introduce a new one).

Hello Satoshi-san,

There is a typo on the "E version" datasheet.
The address didn't change, your customer does not need to modify the code.
We will get the datasheet fixed (this could take a few weeks)
