Hi Hao,

If the SMBUSz input is pulled low, the SMBUS master will need to access and configure the TUSB8041 before it will operate as a hub. Otherwise, the hub will stay in programming mode.

Please note that the USB 3.0 TX pair should always have series capacitors installed. Unused ports should be left unconnected, the lines should not be terminated. Please make sure that the USB_VBUS input is set to have a voltage level around 500 mV when VBUS is on.

By the way, if I want TUSB8041 to operate as a hub without external EEPROM or SMBus, somethings I need to do are:
- Pull down SCL/SMBCLK and SDA/SMBDAT
- Pull up SMBUSz

Is this right?

Hi Hao,

Yes, that is correct. Please note that the device has internal pullup on SMBUSz and internal pulldowns on SCL/SMBCLK and SDA/SMBDAT.
