How to get GUI software to work for the SN65LVCP114 eval board

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65LVCP114

I am running Windows 7. I have downloaded the to software from the TI website. The first one I downloaded did not have the Labview runtime engine and did not work. I then found the correct version with the Labview run time but after I installed it I get an error everytime I try to run it. I get a pop up that says Environmet variables changed please restart GUI. At the same time there is a pane open that says loading frame.vi and it never goes away. The GUI won't respond and I have to use task manager to kill it. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, rebooting, and I have even tried it on a fresh computer with no success. Please help me get this running. Thanks.

  • Hello Cody,

Which version of windows you have, Is it 32bit or 64bit, also which version of lab view are you using to run the GUI?

    Regards,
    Diego.
  • 64bit windows. Not sure on the labview. It was not previously installed and was included with the GUI.

  • Hello Cody,

The first time that the SN65LVCP114 GUI is run on a PC the program tries to write a default configuration file for the device to the hard drive of the PC. Windows 7 does not allow this with its default security settings so they have to be adjusted:

    1. Start the PC

    2. Go to the control panel

    3. Select action center

    4. Select change user account control settings

    5. Lower the security setting to the minimum

    6. You will be prompted to restart the PC, restart so changes take affect

    7. Start the GUI

    8. You should see a message notifying you a default configuration file has been created

    9. GUI should work properly now

Let me know if you are still having an issue after this.

    Best regards,

    Diego.
