SN65DSI84 / SN65DSI85 Power Consumption

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65DSI84, SN65DSI85

Hi,

Could you please tell us each power consumption of SN65DSI84 and SN65DSI85 on the following conditions since we don't mind with an approximate value ?

<Conditions>
SINGLE Channel DSI to DUAL Channel LVDS, 60fps Quad VGA 1280 x 960
(a) number of LVDS lanes = 2 x (4 data lanes + 1 CLK lane)
(b) number of DSI lanes = 1 x (4 data lanes + 1 CLK lane)
(c) LVDS CLK OUT = 40.5 MHz
(d) DSI CLK = 243 MHz
(e) RGB888, LVDS 24bpp
Maximum values are at VCC = 1.95 V and TA = 85°C

Best regards,
Kato

  • Hello Kato,

See the following results generated through bench testing:

    DSI84        TEMP (°C)   85      VCC (V)   1.95       ICC(mA)   119.1

    Bench setup:

Single Channel DSI Input --> Dual Channel LVDS Outputs
    1440 x 900
    Number of DSI Lanes = 1 X [2 Data Lanes + 1 Clock Lane]
    Number of LVDS Lanes = 2 X [3 Data Lanes + 1 Clock Lane]
LVDS Output Clock Frequency = 53.25 MHz
DSI Input Clock Frequency = 500 MHz
RGB = 666 Packed Pixel Stream, Mode = 18 BPP

    DSI85        TEMP (°C)   85      VCC (V)   1.95       ICC(mA)   140.9

    Bench setup:

Single Channel DSI Input --> Dual Channel LVDS Outputs
    1900 x 1200
    Number of DSI Lanes = 2 X [4 Data Lanes + 1 Clock Lane]
    Number of LVDS Lanes = 2 X [3 Data Lanes + 1 Clock Lane]
LVDS Output Clock Frequency = 81.6 MHz
DSI Input Clock Frequency = 490 MHz
RGB = 888 Packed Pixel Stream, Mode = 18 BPP

  • Hi Joel-san,

Thank you for your quick response.
Could you give me the results of the other test conditions which are close to our demand since I already have grasped the power consumptions on the above conditions which you mentioned if possible ?

    Best regards,
    Kato

  • Hello Kato,

Sorry, we don't have characterization data with similar conditions.

In order to submit a request to generate the data, we require to analyse your business case, could you please provide us the following information?

    1. Customer
    2. End Customer
    3. Country
    4. Project’s name
    5. Project application
    6. Have customer asked for samples?  Got them?
    7. Status of the socket? (DIN WIN SBO)
    8. Start production date?
    9. Expected demand?
    10. Forecast? (Life span of the project)
    11. Competitor?
    12. TI sales person in this account

Please send the answers to joel.jimenez@ti.com

  • Hi Joel-san,

Thank you for your support and suggestion.
I visited our customer just yesterday, discussed the power consumption for SN65DSI84/85.
As a result, he understood that we don't have it and this issue has been closed.
In addition, we recommended to use SN65DSI84 on the viewpoint of the low power.
I will contact you if we require your support since he is starting to study the basic system topology just now.
    I greatly appreciate your cooperation.

    Best regards,
    Kato
