Hello,

I know this is a very general question, but what is the easiest way to get a single video frame in some interval, for example once every second?

What I would like to do is get the image into the ATmega2560 to process it further.

Hello,
The TFP401A is only a DVI/HDMI receiver, it doesn't generate frames, the frame rate is generated by the video source, the function of the TFP401A is only receive it and decode it.
Think on the TFP401A as a de-serializer.

Thank you for your response. I know this, but would it be possible to store output to some fifo memory and get a single frame?

In order to display a picture you have to be constantly refreshing the whole frame.
If you send just one frame to the TFP401A it will decode it and then stop sending data, I think your best option would be to send the same picture all the time so you can display a still image.

You misunderstood me, I do not want to display anything, I want to grab a single frame from HDMI input.
I would like to use TFP401A to process the signal and than store a frame in some memory.

Hello,
The tFP401A will de-serialize anything at the input as long as it has a valid clock and TMDS signal.
If you send a single frame to the TFP401A, it will de-serialize it, you would have to use the VSYNC and HSYNC to trigger your buffer. I haven't heard of any application implementing the tFP401A as this.
