TLK3101 question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK1211, TLK1221, TLK1501

Can the TLK3101 be used for gigabit ethernet?

Thanks,

Mircea

  • Hi Mircea,

TLK3101 does not support Gigabit Ethernet, this device operates from 2.5 to 3.125Gbps (Backplane application) . This device uses the 8b/10b encoding algorithm that is used by fiber channel and gigabit ethernet, although, this process is transparent to the user as the TLK3101 internally encodes and decodes the data such that the user reads and writes 16bit data.

Otherwise, you could take a look in another devices that support Gigabit Ethernet standard and select the best device according your requirements such as follows:

    TLK1211

    TLK1221

    TLK2201

    TLK1201

    TNETE2201

    TLK2208

    TLK2206

  • How about TLK1501?
This device operates between 0.6 and 1.5Gbps.
    Thanks,

  • Hi Mircea,

TLK1501 does not support Gigabit Ethernet, this device is intended for high-speed blackplane applications.  Otherwise, you could take a look into TLK1201A or TLK1221, that operates from 0.6 to 1.3Gbps. There are several options of devices that support Gigabit Ethernet standard.

    I hope this helps.
