HS and HS_SUSPEND pin going high in TUSB8040A1

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB8040A1

Hello,

I am facing issue with TUSB8040A1 not working. Please find related log in attached image. I have tested with many design board but only one board having this issue. I suspect PCB assembly also for this issue. Power and clock for this USB hub seems good. one change  I observed wrt to non working board is HS and HS_SUSPEND pin of USB is high compeer to working board.

Please let me know, If any additional details required.

Thanks,

Pankaj

  • Hello,
Please provide your schematic, are you using a USB 3.0 host controller?
This could be a physical problem with the hub's upstream connection or a power-up sequence issue.
Have you verified the power-up sequence?

  • Hello Pankaj,

This does sounds like an assembly issue if it only occurs on one board.  A common assembly issue with the TUSB8040A1 is insufficient ground pad connection. You can sometimes test this by seeing if the device works while manually pressed to the board.

I cannot tell from the log provided, does the hub complete enumeration and just does not enumerate the downstream device on Port 1 (this indicates a Port 1 problem) ? Or does the hub not enumerate at all (this indicates an upsteam connection issue)?
