LVDS Controller

we are using LVDS DS90UH947T TI LVDS controller, the data sheet says it supports 1080p and 720p, we believe i2c port is used to configure the resolution. This LVDS is connected to LCD. how can we configure the resolution and how do we know what resolution is supported by the LCD connected to this LVDS controller. is the resolution programmable in this LVDS controller? we see that i2c can be used to configure between RGB 18vs24 bit mode, so please tell how to configure the resolution also.
