HI,

Different graphics card output dp source signal , through DP130 or DP141 to Xilinx 7Z045 gtx .

DP130:
(mac mini)Intel graphic card hd4000 :link rate 2.7/1.62Gbps link training sucess .

(mac pro)Nvidia GeForce GT750M 2048M :link rate 2.7/1.62Gbps link training sucess .


(iMac ) AMD Radeon R9 M395X : link rate 5.4/2.7/1.62Gbps link training failure .

DP130 performance than DP141 ok?

what should be done to allow Z7045‘s GTX to receive these DisplayPort source signals?

  • Hi Doph Hai,

    There are a couple points to clarify

    DP130 in a limiting redriver intended for DP1.2, it includes AUX monitoring for link training.

    DP141 is a linear redriver intended for DP1.3/1.4 it doesn't include AUX monitoring. Besides, it needs special configuration depending on signal amplitude. Finally, we recommend using RUSB546-DCI instead of DP141.

    Could you elaborate on the application and the issue?

    Is DP130 placed on GPU side or receiver side?

    What link training tests are the ones failing?

    I set the voltage swing of the z7045 gtx to the maximum value(1000mv) . At a rate of 1.62gbps, the macbook was able to link successfully.

    But when I set the rate of 2.7/5.4gbps, minidp once access, macbook immediately died, must be restarted .   

    why?

    Dp141 should be how to special configuration?

    Imac can read edid at different rates, but fails in the clock recovery phase。

    TUSB546-DCI similar to dp159? Whether it also contains retimer? Because gtx can not solve the dp ssc signal , so need dp159 to retire, convert the  ssc signal into a common signal.

    Is the Macbook crashing without a redriver? This issue should be software related; these redrivers only deal with electrical signaling, I have seen this same problem with computers running Windows.

    TUSB546-DCI is a linear redriver, not a retimer.

    When you use DP159 in x-mode as DP retimer; it cleans high-frequency jitter but won't convert SSC to fixed frequency clock.

    For the( AMD Radeon R9 M395X,ATI FirePro V3800 and so on)graphics card output dp signal, they can read edid, but the link training always failed in the clock recovery phase.

    How can make their links training successful?

    If I use xilinx z7045 gtx, Do I have to use dp159? If i use the dp141, then some dp signal is not link training success?

    Now you mention the clock recovery phase is the one that fails, do you have eye-diagrams to review?

    Have you tried connecting GPU and display without the redriver?

    I don't know how Xilinx z7045 GTX works, or why the clock is not being recovered if the problem comes from jitter or skew DP159 would be needed to clean it.
