TS3DV642: HPD signal level voltage tolerance on TS3DV642?

Part Number: TS3DV642

Hi team,

customer used the TS3DV642 for the HDMI and eDP switch, attached is customer schematic, can you please help to review this schematic to see if any concerns?

On the other hand, customer wants to know what is the HPD voltage range or tolerance on device side if the connector side is 5V? And any pull high or pull low resistor is needed on TS3DV642 side for the HDMI and eDP signals from connector side? Please advise. Thanks.

Regards,

Arthur

  • Arthur,

Thank you for your posting. I have contacted the engineering team responsible for this device and they will be with you soon.

    Thank you,
    Adam
  • Hi Arthur,

HPD can handle 5V; a 100k pull-down is placed on the GPU/CPU to keep it disabled when there is no display connected.
DDC needs pull-ups, are those pull-ups situated close to GPU/CPU or connector?

    Regards
  • Hi Adam,

yes, the CPU board has 100k pull down. Also, the DDC has pull high on I/O board.

some more questions, for the eDP( or DP) application, the HPD is low active, will it need an additional pull high? or just keep the same to have 100k pull down on connector side? and then to connect the HPD_A, HPD_B to CPU, GPU?

For the SEL1, SEL2 signals, is it ok to use GPIO to control its H or L instead of hardware to fix it?

    Please advise. Thanks.

    Regards,
    Arthur

  • Hi Arthur,

If the GPU has HPD active low, then you need an inverter, the displays provide HPD=HIGH.
    For HDMI HPD is 5V
    For DP HPD is 3.3V

Yes, SEL signals can be driven by a uController.
