TDP158: Tdp158 as a displayport repeater

Part Number: TDP158
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB544, TUSB546-DCI

dear Sir

May I know how to connect SDA_SNK and SCL_SNK when Tdp158 as a dp repeater ?

due to Tdp159 is 40pin and doesn't have AUX_SRCP / AUX SRCN as below

Thanks

  • Hi Kai,

DP159 is a retimer, in x-mode AUX_SRC is used as a clock source used by some applications.

DP158 is a redriver, there is no way to generate a clock

I'm looking for the right way to connect SCL_SRC/SDA_SRC and SCL_SNK/SDA_SNK

    Regards

  • dear Moises

We would like to use TDP158 to do displayport repeater

    1. could TDP158 support DP repeater??

    2. Due to 158 have DDC snoop function ,so I would like to know how to connect SDA_SNK / SCL_SNK (need pull up ??)

    Thanks

  • Hi Kai,

TDP158 can be used as a DP redriver.

In DP mode DDC is not used, SCL_SRC/SDA_SRC and SCL_SNK/SDA_SNK can be left open.

    Regards

  • Dear Moises

I saw DP159 and DP158 have to use I2C mode to config IC to Displayport mode ,is it correct
If use TUSB546 or TUSB544 for displayport ,could I use GPIO mode to do displayport ??

    Thanks

  • Hi Kai,

The DP159 and TDP158 implements clock stretching, there are HDMI sources that have problems with this features(although they shouldn't).

If you are sure your GPU can handle I2C clock stretching then it is safe to use any of those devices.

However, I think you are considering those devices for DP applications, in that case, the AUX channel is not connected to DP159/TDP158.

The TUSB546-DCI already has an application note to use it as DP redriver.

The TUSB544 has GPIO and I2C controls, there is no application note, you have to review the datasheet.

    Regards
