SN65DPHY440SS: The maximum length of MIPI signal line

Part Number: SN65DPHY440SS

Hi

My customer use SN65DPHY440SS for Re-timer. They have a question about length of MIPI signal line.

Could you please let me know about your recommended maximum length? Also, they want to know about items that need care for their design.

Wire material
Conductor resistance: 10.0 Ω / m
Characteristic impedance: 50 Ω
Attenuation at 1 GHz: 8.1 dB / m
Propagation delay time: 4.8 ns / m

Other
communication speed:
720 Mbps / lane
363 Mbps / lane

Thanks

Do you have the attenuation loss at 1.5GHz?

Attenuation loss at 1GHz is 8.1dB/m, which is ~0.2dB/in. Assume equalization of 2.5dB, this is approximately 12in trace. But attenuation loss at 1.5G would be higher than 1GHz, so the trace length would be less that 12in for equalization of 2.5dB.

I would refer you to section 8.2.1 for the design recommendation.

    Thanks
