Will there be an 8-ch version of TPL7407?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPL9202, TPL9201

Other than tradition, why do these interface chips come with seven channels, when PPI's and commercial interface boards provide groups of eight channels? Will there be an eight channel version of the TPL7407, like the ULN2803? Or would I need to waste four channels to get 24 channels?

  • Loren,

There is production savings for 16 pins packages over 18. Also the ULN2003 is more popular than ULN2803. 8 channels may come but I don't have a time table. Perhaps the extra channels can be used as logic inverters or open collector NAND gate, do voltage translation (moderate speed) or drive status LEDS.

TPL9201, TPL9202, and TPIC6 prefix device are 8 channels. More features are integrated, but added cost.
