USB Type C Controller

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65982, TPS2514, TPS2513

Hello,

Can anyone tell me when TPS65982 USB Type C power delivery controller will be available in market or free sample available for evolution purpose?

& which power profile TPS65982 will support?

Any help in this case will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chetan Panchal

  • Hi Chetan,

The TPS65982 is now active with all pertinent information available on its product page. We are finalizing a GUI tool that will allow you to create your own firmware image (selecting your own power profiles, DFP/UFP/DRP capability, any alternate modes, and so on). Any particular power profile you are interested in?

    Regards,

    Karl

  • Hi Karl,

    Sorry for late reply.
We required maximum 20V@3A so maximum 60W power profile. Voltage will be variable from 5V to 12V.
We checked its datasheet and working on it.

    Thanks again for your response.

  • Dear Karl,

If We are using TPS65982 for charging of USB Type C based device and do we need to connect D+ and D- pin of USB type C connector to any other BC 1.2 specified IC(like TPS2513/TPS2514) for charging of USB 2.0 based devices?

As we know that we can use USB Type C to USB 2.0 micro USB cable for charging of USB 2.0 devices. As per the datasheet page number 53 of TPS65982 "Battery Charger (BC1.2) Detection Block" point, it mentioned it can detect the BC1.2 devices so can we say that it will support for charging of all USB 2.0 based devices?

If any other IC are available for both use case then please suggest us.

    Waiting for your response.

    Thanks,
    Chetan Panchal
