SN754410 VCC1_max/VIH_max voltage: disadvantage/problems when 12V?

Hi!

In the datasheet of the SN754410, the recommended maximum voltage for VCC1_max/VIH_max is 5.5V, but the maximum rating is 36V.

I want to use it with 12V. Is there any known problem/drawback when doing so?
