GLCD using I2C

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCF8574, PCF8575, TCA9535, TCA9534, PCA9534

Hi!

we are regularly working withTMS320F28027 for many of our power electronic applications. Normally we are using 16X2 or 20X4 LCD with I2C protocol & PCF8574 as I/O Expander For user interphase.

Now , for one of our applications , we want to give GLCD JHD12864 for user interphase. We are trying to use our same controller with I2C protocol with PCF8575 as I/O Expander. We get all the commands at the output of PCF 8575, but still nothing appears on GLCD. Can any body suggest any thing? Is operating frequency is the reason? Does it has to do something with Enable Command? Please advice.

Thanking you,

V.S.Deshpande

  • First of all, I will suggest using the 8-bit TCA9534 (or 16-bit TCA9535) in new applications. They are the same devices as the PCF without the transient pull-up current on the P-ports.

The PCA9534 is currently in production and the TCA9534 will be released to the market this month.

The TCA9535 is already released, so you can order samples now.

I cannot give much advice on the PCF8575, but I would need to see the I2C signals and a couple of the P-ports on a scope to even begin to debug this issue.
