TCA9543A - About usage

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA9543A

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to use TCA9543A as if the following picture.

I’m understanding that this device can change one master and two slave but can’t change two masters and one slave.

So, this device can’t meet their demand because the master must input only from SCL(12pin) and SDA(13pin) to control the internal switches.

Is my understanding correct?

If yes, could you please let me know the other device which can satisfy their demand?

We were not able to find this device.

Regards,

Kanemaru

  • Kanemaru,

You are correct, the TCA9543A cannot be used this way.

You need to communicate to pins 12 and 13 in order to address the TCA9543A and read/write from/to the control register.

There is not a device that I know of which is used to mux 2 masters to 1 slave, and the reason is that the I2C specification supports multi-master configurations in which the master devices arbitrate for control of the bus.

  • Hi Brian-san,

    Thank you for the information!

I understood. thank you very much.
