TCA9517 / Output state at only one Vccx is powered

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA9517

Hi All,

I understand that power-up circuit that keeps the output drivers turned off until VCCB is above 2.5 V and the VCCA is above 0.8 V. This means that the output drivers turned off when the only one Vccx is powered, right?

Your comments will be appreciated.

  • Yes, your understanding of the TCA9517 is correct.

In my opinion, though, it is always advisable to hold the EN pin low using a GPIO of a processor to ensure that the drivers are disabled until the "power good" signal comes from VCCA and VCCB power supplies. Then you may release EN high and the drivers will be enabled.

This would be an additional preventative measure to ensure no glitching occurs due to an unstable or non-monotonic voltage supply signal.
