I'm not very familiar with level shifting/translating, so I am looking for some guidance in choosing a solution for my device. The way the previous hardware that I have to interface has 12 V logic high. I'm using this for a bit banged SPI port to communicate with a DAC. I need to reduce the voltage down to a 5V logic level.
I saw the CD4504B, but want a more experienced opinion. What are your thoughts? Are there better options for doing what I want?
Consider using an RS-485 receiver. It is basically a single-supply voltage comparator with a wide input range.
