TXS0102 - Total supply current when the device is operating.

Hi Team,

Please give me a help about TXS0102 operation.

Our customer uses TXS0102 x2 in the SPI bus line. They observes total more than 40mA in the 3.3V power line only for these 2 devices. It seems 40mA is too high  for these devices.

What is the nominal current consumption for this device when it is  operating successfully, when having input and output signal ?

[Condition]
- VCCA=3.3V, VCCB=5.0V
- Connected devices have CMOS Input/Output

Best Regards,
Kawai

  • Hi Kawai

For TXS0102, the high current just occur at rising edge. the max current is less than 18mA when rising edge occurs.  If input hold at high, the current will depend on supply rail and pull-up resistor.

Is 40mA current always on 3.3V voltage?

    Thanks

    Wei

  • Hi Wei-san,

    Thanks for your continuous support.

To your question the answer is YES.
Cusotomer uses two TXS0102 with VCCA=3.3V and VCCB=5.0V.
They always observe 40mA current when these devices are operating.

I thought N2 switch may not be completely OFF, however, there would not be a leak from 3.3V line.

I need to get some more information from the customer, but please help us  if you have any idea.

    Best Regards,
    Kawai

  • Hi Kawai,

Could you ask customer to check I/O port voltage? If your comment is correct, the input and output voltage could be at some middle level

Dose the data transmission occurr or I/O held at fixed state (high/low) when ICCA =40mA?

    Thanks

    Wei

  • Hi Wei-san,

In the customer measurement condition with data transmission (I/O is NOT held at fixed state.)

I have confirmed the I/O voltages. Signal direction is from A side to B side.

    - VCCA=3.3V, VCCB=5.0V
    - VA1_High=3.3V, VA1_Low=0V
    - VB1_High=3.8V, VB1_Low=0V
    - VA2_High=3.3V, VA2_Low=0V
    - VB2_High=5.0V, VB2_Low=0V
    - OE is directly connected to VCCA

    - A1/B1 : SPI MOSI
    - A2/B2 : SPI CLK

I could send you the measurement data if you could send me an Email or contact address.

    Best Regards,
    Kawai

  • Hi Kawai,

I think VB1_High=3.8v is not correct. Please send data to me langwei@ti.com.

    Thanks
