TXS3306 - does it exist?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXB0108, TXS0108E, TXS0206, TXS02612

I was looking through the TI 2014 Voltage Level Translation Guide (http://www.ti.com/lit/ml/scyb018e/scyb018e.pdf) and found a reference to the TXS3306 voltage level translator. This seemed like a good thing to use with the Intel Edison for communicating with microSD cards. However, I can't find any other info on it. The guide links to ti.com/product/TXS3306-18 but that page doesn't exist. Nothing on Digikey, Mouser, or Google either.

Is this chip just vapourware? Or just not ready for release yet?

  • Hi,

This device is not released yet. If it is released, the device product fold will be on TI.com.

    Thanks

    Wei

  • Hi Wei,

Thanks for the reply. As an alternative to that, have you got any suggestions for SD card level translation chips in TSSOP, QFN/DFN, or QFP packages? I've seen a few people using the TXB0108, although it looks like that would conflict with the pull-up resistor inside the microSD card (on the DATA3 pin). The TXS0108E looks more suitable for this reason but I haven't found many examples of it being used for this purpose.

The TXS0206 would be perfect, except that it's only available in a BGA package.

    Cheers,

    Evan

  • Hi Evan,

Could you please try  TXS02612. It is SDIO expander with voltage translator. Its package is 24pin QFN.

    Thanks

    Wei

  • Hi Wei,

Thanks again for the reply. I had a look at the TXS02612, but unfortunately it lacks the CLKFB (clock feedback) pin.
It's difficult to get confirmation, but it appears that this is essential when using the SD interface on Edison.

    Cheers,

    Evan
