I am not sure that I understand the question.

MAX3223EI is a level translator between RS232 bus and a 3.3V or 5V logic bus.
The MAX3223EI does not process or understand the data stream.

MAX3223EIDB is the replacement.

It has top marking MP223EI and comes in SSOP package.
