Inquiry regarding common mode filtering on TRS3223E

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TRS3223E

Hello, all

Now we have one inquiry regarding common mode filtering on TRS3223E from our customer.

Please refer to the item below, and feedback us with your comment.

We have only experience with using MAX202CSE with common mode filtering on DOUT and RIN lines.

The datasheet of MAX202CSE is downloadable on the website below;

http://datasheets.maximintegrated.com/en/ds/MAX200-MAX213.pdf

In case using TRS3223E, do we still need this filtering?

It seems it is not mandatory to use this, in case of TRS3223E.

We thank you in advance for your information.

Best regards,

  • Atsushi-san,

    MAX2XX devices have continuously running charge pumps for higher RS-232 outputs at no load but have a high output impedance and output will decrease significantly with load.

    MAX3XXX devices have a regulated charge pumps for lower ICC with lower RS-232 output at no load. The output impedance is lower. The overall result is better data speed.

    Both device types can use common mode filter as protection from hostile environments.

  • Atsushi-san,

    For TI products the MAX and TRS device name prefixes are the same device on the inside.
