Inquiries regarding DP83620

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83620

Hello, all

Now we have some inquiries regarding from our customer.

Please refer to the items below, and feedback us with your comment.

Q1) When referring "Table 5. Recommended Magnetics" on "AN-1469 PHYTER Design & Layout Guide", only H1102 is suggested for Typical Applications.

Meanwhile, when referring "Table 4. Magnetics Requirements" on same document, it seems that we could select other pulse transformer if it could meet each specification described on "Parameter" column.

Please let us clarify whether our understanding is correct or not. For your reference, we would like to use HX1260FNL instead.

Q2) When referring to the IBIS Model (dp83620.ibs), No.34 X1 is defined as osc25x1. This seems that the voltage for oscillator is 2.5V.

Meanwhile, when referring the detail on Model osc25x1, the [Voltage Range] is defined as 3.0 to 3.6V.

Please let us clarify whether we could apply 3.3V into the external oscillator or not.

We thank you in advance for your information.

Best regards,

  • Okui-san,

Your understanding is correct.  The magnetics requirements are intended to help identify other transformers that would be suitable for use with the DP83620.

I agree with your selection of the HX1260FNL.  Based on the datasheet, it should meet the requirements.

The DP83620 supports an I/O voltage of 2.5V or 3.3V.  If the I/O voltage is 3.3V, a 3.3V external oscillator can be used.

The name of the IBIS model for the X1 clock reference input is not intended to indicate the voltage level.  It is intended to indicate the default clock frequency.  By default, the clock reference will be 25MHz.

  • OFarrell-san,

Thank you for your previous support towards the inquiries regarding DP83620 from our customer.

We have additional inquiry regarding receiver waveform on DP83620.

Please refer to the item below, and feedback us with your comment.

Now we are configuring Ethernet circuit with using DP83620SQ. The functionality and transmitting and receiving operations are working properly. The facilitation is also fine for the cable length up to 120m.

However, we found some distortion on the bottom of MLT3.

We made the Ethernet connection with other equipment by LAN cable (approximately 5m), the other equipment side is connecting without 100M auto negotiation. This means that the transmit of DP83620SQ is fixed for TX pair and reception is for RX pair.

On this condition, we found some distortion on the bottom of MLT3 when monitoring RX signal of DP83620SQ.

On our previous model, on which we used DP83848IVV, we could not find such distortion.

Please let us clarify whether the receiving waveform of DP83620SQ is proper or not.

The actual waveform and schematic was sent directly on Oct 17th via e-mail.

We thank you once again for your information.

    Best regards,
