DP83848C: Time domain reflectometry

Hi

I am using DP83848C phy chip. I want to know that do this phy have Time domain reflectometry (TDR).
If yes how to use that , any pdf related to that.
if no , how to perform phy diagnostics so as to know about the life of phy cable and other phy related diagnostics.

Hello Chinmay,

Unfortunately, this feature is not supported on DP83848C. Is this a new design? We do have other device in our portfolio which support TDR. The procedure and registers are documented in their individual datasheets.
We have a new 10/100M phy which was released last year, DP83822I. It supports TDR.

The design has already been done, and are there any devices with this function(TDR) that is pin compatible with DP83848C ?
Can u please tell me the list PHY's that support this functionality ?

Hi

In our design we are using DP83848C. As we have already drawn the schematics with DP83848C but it doesn't have TDR so we want to replace it with a different PHY i.e.. having almost same PIN config so that we doesn't have to change the schematics.

Can anyone suggest which PHY we should use ??

Hi Chinmay,

I would recommend the DP83822I.
This is our latest 10/100Mbps PHY with TDR.

It is not pin-2-pin with the DP83848C but is our recommended replacement.
