DS280DF810: IBIS AMI Model with 100 Ohm input termination supplied doesn't work

Part Number: DS280DF810

When I am running the DS280DF810 Ibis AMI model in Sigrity SystemSI and I include the supplied 100 Ohm input termination to the retimer I don't get any output. Is there something I'm missing with the setup?  When I do not include the termination the output of the retimer is a square wave and at the final receiver it's an eye diagram again.

  • Hi Jeff. Does your datapath and simulation variables setup match the TI retimer model quick guide?

  • Hi Rodrigo,

I thought my data path matched the TI retimer quick guide but I just noticed that the termination resistor on the input is in addition to the  rx_term.s4p s-parameter file.  This looks like a double termination.

I'm using Cadence SystemSi for the simulations and I don't have an easy way to add the termination resistor at the input to the retimer like ADS seams to have.  Can I just use another set of the rx_term.s4p S-parameters for the second 100 Ohm term?  Or can you send me an S-parameter file for the second termination?

    Best Regards,

    Jeff Smith

  • Hi Jeff. You do need to add this extra termination resistor to be able to obtain correct voltage values during simulation. The rxterm.s4p only represents part of the RX, and so that external 100 ohm is needed. There has to be a way for you to do this in Cadence environment. I unfortunately don't have the S parameter to represent the 100 ohm resistor
