DP83867IS: question about magnetic connection

Part Number: DP83867IS

Hi,

It seems more common in the datasheet, but looking at the data, I want to check it out a bit strange.

Magnetic connection on datasheet and EVM circuit diagram numbering appear to be different.

Which one is correct?

EVM schematic : http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/snlu209/snlu209.pdf

RJ45 pair Net Name DP83867
8-7 TD_A_P - TD_A_N 1-2
5-4 TD_B_P - TD_B_N 4-5
6-3 TD_C_P - TD_C_N 7-8
2-1 TD_D_P - TD_D_N 10-11

Example on Datasheet : http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/snls504b/snls504b.pdf

thanks,

TS

  • Hello TS,

Thank you for using the TI forum. Our product expert will get back to you by Monday.
  • Hello TS,

Your observation is correct. Channel A should go to pair 1-2 and so on. In the EVM, we have enabled mirror mode via LED_0 strap. This will cause the channels to be in reverse. So Channels A-B-C-D will become Channels D-C-B-A. This feature of the PHY is helpful in making layout easier.
Since the channels are reversed, we connected Channel A to pair 1-2. If mirror mode is not used by the customer then connection should be made as per Figure 26 shown above.
