DP83849IF: request schematic review

Part Number: DP83849IF

Hi,

One of my customer is willing to use TI's DP83849IF for their network application.

They ask to TI if there's any problem on their schematic.

Please help us.

thanks,

TS

  • Hello TS,

We will review the schematic and send a reply back by end of the week.

  • Hello TS,

    Please find my review below,

Ensure that RBIAS is 4.87kohm 1% resistor
Magnetics and RJ45 connections are not shown in the schematics. Please check the connection from PHY to RJ45 connector. TD+/- of the PHY should connect to TD+/- of the RJ45. The same would apply for RD+/-. The Center Taps (CT) of the magnetics on the RJ-45 should be pulled up to AVDD with 0.1uF decoupling caps to ground on each CT. The CT decoupling caps should be placed close to the magnetics.
Verify that Bob Smith termination is correctly used.
Pull up resistors on TD+/- and RD+/- pins should be 49.9ohms 1%tolerance along with 0.1uF decoupling capacitor. Place the 49.9ohm resistor network close to the PHY.
Ensure that the clock input and the magnetics meet the requirement mentioned in the datasheet.
Strap resistors are not visible in the schematics. Please verify that the strap pins are configured correctly via the datasheet or else post the schematic section with straps on the E2E forum for review.
Decoupling caps for PFBOUT, PFBIN1, PFBIN2, PFBIN3, and PFBIN4 should be kept closer to their respective pins.
Refer to the design and layout guide for more information: www.ti.com/.../snla079d.pdf
