DP83867CR: Recommended ferrite beads for 1000MB PHY

Part Number: DP83867CR

Hello,

I am currently using a design with 4 PHYs powered by two different supplies, 1 for 1.0V and 1 for 2.5V, both using the same model. In order to decouple noise coming from each PHY I was recommended a ferrite bead with decoupling capacitor next to each chip for each rail. The PHY's will be operating in 1gigabit mode using rgmii.

What would be a recommended ferrite bead for this application? Target frequency? I could not find any notes on possible output noise on the VDD10 and VDD25 linesin the datasheet for DP83867.

The switching supplies switch at 4 MHz.

Thank you!

  • Hi Justin,

Bead selection is not something we have considered strongly with the DP83867.

Internally, the sys ref clock of the PHY is 125MHz, and any bead selected should present high impedance in this range.

I will have our expert get further information to you.

    Best Regards,
