  • Hi Roger,

    Sorry for the delay.

I have reviewed your questions in the word document and I need some clarification.
You say that PING fails, you are referring to the actual Ethernet channel and not MDIO/MDC, correct?
Also, the PHY does not always respond to MDIO/MDC commands, correct?

Have you checked all possible PHY IDs, i.e. 0x0 through 0x1F?
Can you please force the PHY into RESET and measure the voltages on each of the strap pins to confirm their bootstrap state?
What could be happening is the PHY is not strapping into the state you desire.
The connected MAC might have internal pulls that changes the expected strap state
  • 1, PING fails, customer are referring to the actual Ethernet channel and not MDIO/MDC.
2, yeah, the PHY does not always respond to MDIO/MDC commands.
3, they confirm that The connected MAC don’t have internal pulls that changes the expected strap state.
4,they are doing some test with your other advice.
5,they have another questing ,which is also in the attached document. Please see attached document, please give some comment, thanks!
