ISO5452: Clamp pin internally connects to GND2 or VEE2?

Hi Team,

Customer wants to verify with us "Clamp pin:" internally connects to GND2 or VEE2?

Correct me if I am wrong. My understanding is VEE2.

If VEE2 is supply by -5V. Clamp pin should be triggered when incoming voltage reaches -5V + 2.1V = -2.9V typ.

    Your first statement is correct, but your second one isn't. This is described in the d/s in Section 9.3.1 Supply and Active Miller Clamp. Basically, when using bipolar supplies, the CLAMP is not active due to the threshold voltage (2V). During a rapid dv/dt event which might induce miller turn-on of the IGBT, customers either use bipolar supplies to hold the IGBT off, or they use the CLAMP with unipolar supplies to hold the IGBT off.

    Quick question regarding CLAMP under bipolar supplies. When you say CLAMP pin "not active", does it mean CLAMP pin can auto detect bipolar supplies therefore turn off by itself?

    Customer is asking for CLAMP truth-table like ROHM did. Do we have something similar to share with customer?

    Your understanding of the Miller clamp function is correct. The Miller clamp threshold value is with reference to VEE2. The truth-table of ISO5452 is similar to the one you have shared. Let us know of any further questions.
