DS15MB200: DS15MB200TSQ input max current & voltage

Hello All,

For the part DS15MB200TSQ Request clarification on the datasheet specification of input clamp voltage under the Electrical Characteristics. Does it mean that the input pin can go below GND by 1.5v max & current should be limited to18mA at that point?

In an application it is recommended to keep the input voltage between 0V and VDD. The input clamp test is designed to ensure the internal ESD protection is present and the package pin is properly connected to the device. I would not recommend to bias the device in a way to allow the input to see -1.5V.

In the Absolute Maximum Ratings section the input voltage is limited to -0.3V.

thanks for the reply Lee, in case the input voltage goes to VDD+0.3 or GND-0.3 then what is the current through the input pin clamp diodes ?

At -0.3V or VDD+0.3V there will still be a very small (microamp) current. Above 0.6V the current will start to increase into the milliamp range.
