DS90UB940-Q1: how to enable the internal pattern generation without serializer?

Hi, Team

I want to enable the internal pattern generation feature of DS90UB940 to test the display module, and I configure the DS90UB940's register as following(use the default timing configuration)

Write 0x03 to address 0x65 PGCFG

Write 0x11 to address 0x64 PGCTL

but the the display module can not get the video output from DS90UB940. Maybe the pattern feature doesn't work.

How should I configure the register to enable the pattern feature?

How can I judge if the pattern feature works well? (When use extern video input from DS90UB949, I can judge the LOCK bit).

And to be clear, when connect DS90UB949 to DS90UB940 and make DS90UB949 generate pattern, the display is ok.

Can you see you can program the registers locally on the Deserializer side? You should be able to write and read the values to ensure they are correct

I can read and write 940 registers from 940 side.

1. you can measure the clkout in the CSI port when enable pattern gen.
2. how do you set the PGCFG register? do you have external timing input?

Hello Steven, thanks for help.
I enabled the pattern gen by Writing 0x03 to address 0x65 PGCFG and 0x11 to address 0x64 PGCTL and no external clock input.
And I measured the clkout in the CSI port, the signal was generated. So it really works! but the wave-shape is not good.

If no external clock input, you can change to internal timing. is it resolved?
