Hello All,

Is the below a true statement for the TPD4S012DRYR device.

In general ESD protection devices are assuming negligible current draw due to leakage and therefore Tj = Ta

  • Hello,
    The junction temperature is not the ambient temperature during an ESD event. However because the ESD pulse is so short none of the heat dissipates beyond the die itself.

    So for this device would the junction and ambient temperature be the same?

    Daniel,
    During normal operation yes it is extremely close due to the minimal power dissipation. However the maximum ambient temperature for the device is not the maximum junction temperature.
