DS90UB933-Q1: to monitor back channel I2C signal

Guru 29690 points
Part Number: DS90UB933-Q1

Hi Team,

I would like to ask two questions.

1)
Is there any way to monitor back channel I2C signal on DS90UB933-Q1?
It is difficult to monitor back channel signal itself from FPD-Link signal because it is embedded in forward channel.

2)
If the answer above is no, how to further investigate when back channel communication is failed?
I heard remote I2C Write / Read is sometimes failed in my customer's application so would like to ask about it.

Best Regards,
Yaita

  • Hi,
Recovered back channel could be outputted to 933 GPIO0 by programming register 0x23[0] to 1.

  • Hi Charley-san,

    Thank you for your support.
Is there any criterion (amount of jitter, timing, etc) to decide back-channel monitored by GPIO0 has problem or not?
My customer saw back-channel communication was sometimes failed in his system so they want to know it.

    Best Regards,
    Yaita

  • This signal could tell you a few things such as frequency, VOD, jitter, and etc. You could try to compare the results against the back channel parameters on the deserializer datasheet.
If the issue is really intermittent, there might be some system related issues such as PoC ripple issue, return/interception loss issue, and etc.
The customer should look into those as well.
