TCA9554: replace TCA9534

Part Number: TCA9554

Hi Sirs,

Sorry to bother you.

We know 9554 have internal 100k PU on IO, but 9534 didn't.

But we would like to know 9554 could replace 9534? or 9534 could replace 9554?

Any risk?

Thanks!!

  • Hey Shu,

From the looks of it. These devices share the same slave address, are pin to pin, and have the same registers. All of this means we should be able to replace on with the other no problem.

The only thing which seems different is the internal pull up resistors which you point out.

    Thanks,

    -Bobby

  • Hi Sirs,

Thanks for your reply, one more question

In our schematic, if we design in external I/O pull up resistors, and also exploit TCA9554 simultaneously, is it work?

  • Hey Shu,

If you have an external pull up resistor and use TCA9554 then the only thing that will happen is you will have two parallel resistors. If the external resistor is much lower than 100k then the device will effectively only see the external pull up resistor. No problems from doing this.

    Thanks,
