Hello.

I am developing new system in which video signal should be passed through slip-ring.

My plan is to use DS90UB935 serializer and pass FPD-Link signal through slip-ring (with shielded rings) with shielded twisted pair cable.

Will it work?

Total line length will be up to 5 meters.

Is it possible to use FPD-Link in such application and will it effectively pass slip-ring?

    Hello Anton,

    The only problem that I see using a slip-ring with FPD-Link signals is that the slip-ring could introduce signal integrity issues. You will have to evaluate if the slip-ring does not introduce too much insertion loss and too many reflections. you can do this by generating an S-Parameter for the slip-ring and exacting the SDD12(Insertion Loss) and the SDD11(Return Loss).

    Hello Anton,
    You will have to evaluate the signal integrity of the slip-ring not just at each position it can be in but also the signal integrity while the slip-ring is rotating.
