SN65LVDS049: how to select a Dual-LVDS Differential Drivers and Receivers

hello

I need to select a Dual-LVDS Differential Drivers and Receivers，SN65LVDS049 and DS90LV049 are almost same，

In my case，all LVDS lanes will be transfered on 100R twisted pair cable（4 meters），the datarate is 20Mbps，which part is suitable for me？

is there need a EQ before the receiver？

Hello Lin,

Either SN65LVDS049 or DS90LV049 is suitable for your application, as they are very similar as you noted. At this rate and cable length, I don't expect you to need an equalizer, but it depends on the quality of the cables and connectors.

In DS90LV049 datasheet，VTH Differential Input High Threshold is 35mv，in cable （4meters Twisted pair）Transmission，if the receiver is easily influenced by the noise along the cable？how can i reduce the influence by the noise

Hello Lin,

Since LVDS is differential the effect of noise is already minimized by the fact that generally both lines of the differential pair are affected by the noise the same way and the differential signal won't be affected that much. In the case when there is no driver on the other side and the LVDS line is floating, then the fail-safe circuit would kick in and make sure the output is stable high level.
