TI's I2C portfolio consists of devices with the family prefix of PCA and TCA (exception to PCF and P82 families).
What are the differences and similarities between the two prefixes?
Differences:1) TCA devices use newer process technologies which are more cost competitive than the PCA line up2) TCA devices generally allow lower Vcc ranges3) TCA devices provide less strict Vcc ramp times
4) Not all devices that are PCA have a TCA replacement (PCA9306 for example)
5) Some TCA devices have minor bug fixes which were present in PCA line up (if any)Similarities:1) Pin to Pin replacements (Though not all packages from the PCA line up made it into the TCA line up)
2) Addresses of slave devices and internal registers are the same
Overall we recommend the TCA line up when available because they offer the same functionality but have the advantages listed above.
