TCA9617A: TCA9617A port A and Port B both are 5V

Part Number: TCA9617A

Hi ~

we have HDMI RX compliance test issue(8-9 spec :DDC capacitance <=50pF)who would like to have TCA9617A to solve issue

becasue daughter board only 5V power come from HDMI connector pin 18(netname:P4_5V)

does it have any potential risk if we  use port A and port B both 5V level ??

David

  • Hey David,

The TCA9617A can be used at VccA=VccB=5V. Please note that with the DDC testing, the TCA9617A may not pass on 'B side' of the device because it has internal logic that may turn on when you send a sine wave into the B side of the device when you are trying to measure the capacitiance. The logic may latch the B side to a low voltage which gives off FALSE capacitance values of nanoFarads. (This is likely true for all I2C buffers with static offsets.) I believe for this device to pass the DDC testing, it will need to be performed on A side of the device.
