Hi team,

My customer is using our TPS65987DDJ with TUSB8044A.

He would like to know, under what condition, will the PD controller trigger the billboard event?

    Hi SK,

    The billboard GPIO will be triggered if there is a failure to enter an Alternate Mode or if the ANMinPowerRequired field is enabled in the Intel VID Config register and the attached source does not provide enough power per the MinPowerRequired config.

    Thanks Eric,

    Had discuss with customer, and he mentioned that even if they use a type C to type A connection to connect from the monitor's type C port to platform type A port, platform still receive BB event. In this case, there isn't any ALT mode,

    Another test case is type C to type C connection, with platform only having USB 3 but no DP, the platform still receive BB.

    Is this expected / normal?

    Hi SK,

    That looks correct to me. In both cases, the Alt Mode entry fails but the PD controller is configured to allow DP Alt. mode entry.
