TPS65988DJEVM: Display port HPD not working over USB-C

Out of the box, the TPS65988DJEVM functioned with USBC data and Displayport outputs.

Once programmed using the TPS application customization tool, USB data remained functional however Display port has been unable to hot-plug detect when using either usb-c port connections. This results in no display output from the TPS65988DJEVM via the USB-C ports. Re-flashing with the EVM Firmware (Recovery) has not fixed the issue.

Prior to initial programming of the device, I entered debug mode and took note of the settings. I have re-applied these within the application customization tool and re-flashed the EVM board. The issue is still present.

A soft reset does not rectify the issue.

What settings can be preventing displayport from operating after being re-flashed with the recovery firmware?

Is the original firmware on the evaluation module available?

Hi Emma,

GUI Build version is 6.1.1

This isn't for thunderbolt, it's a USB C host. I am using this to switch displayport with data lines down one port, sink power (up to 20V) on the other, with the ability to use both ports for both needs.

I have not applied power over USB at the moment as I am trying to verify displayport switching down to either one of the USB C ports, which currently is not being achieved after any programming of the evaluation module.

It is imperative that this function is verified ASAP otherwise I will have to move away from the using device

Hi Rory,

TPS65988DJ is meant for thunderbolt host platforms only and is not compatible with the GUI you are using. Please use TPS65988DH, as it will be able to meet your USB C host needs. The TPS65988EVM is DH and will work with the GUI.
