For an illumination application i want to build a laser with a laser diode. Pulses with a width of 400ps or shorter are necessary. The repetition rate of the pulses will be about 80MHz. For the needed spectral range a 405nm diode or a red laser diode is necessary. The operating voltage is about 4.75V for the blue and 2.32V for the red diode. Will it be possible to use such a diode with a TI laser diode driver (e.g. the ONET1101L).

Our laser drivers are intended for driving DFB lasers with up to 80mA of modulation current. I'm not sure what you mean by the operating voltage but I'm sure you need more than 80mA of drive current for the LEDs so the ONET1101L is not suitable.
A sub-nanosecond pulsed LED driver is challenging. You may want to check out this website:
